I keep getting a recompiler error when I check my work. How do I fix this without a terminal? Some people use Gradle
// I have setup a java.io.Console object for you named console
String firstName = ("Amelia");
console.printf = ("%s can code in Java!");

3,904 PointsYou don't need an equal sign while calling a function. I suggest rewatch the video on how to use the printf function one more time to get a better understanding on how this works. Other than that, we don't need parentheses while declaring a String.
Therefore, it would look something like this.
String firstName = "random";
console.printf("%s can code in Java!", firstName);
Hope that helps!

3,752 PointsMy original code for the 2nd line was:
console.printf = ("%s can code in Java!", firstName);
but it had 3 (expected) errors, which I fixed to what the current code is shown in my question. My current error is:
JavaTester.java:74: error: cannot find symbol console.printf = ("%s can code in Java!"); ^ symbol: variable printf location: variable console of type MockConsole Note: JavaTester.java uses or overrides a deprecated API. Note: Recompile with -Xlint:deprecation for details. 1 error
