I am getting what I believe is the desired outcome for this exercise in workspaces AND in the preview of the exercise window, but continue to get a "Bummer, try again" error message. I have compared my code with the code in other questions/answers and am not seeing what I'm doing wrong. Is this a problem with the website?
import random
start = 5
def even_odd(num):
# If % 2 is 0, the number is even.
# Since 0 is falsey, we have to invert it with not.
return not num % 2
while start:
rand_num = random.randint(1, 99)
if even_odd(rand_num):
print("{} is even.".format(rand_num))
else:
print("{} is odd.".format(rand_num))
start -= 1

Your understanding of it is correct.
The periods that you have at the end of your strings are throwing off the tester. They weren't specifically asked for in the instructions.
It should pass if you take them out.
