Hi there
I have a university project whereby I have to a create portfolio site. The site is graded on its design aspect and not code. Due to this, my lecturer recommended that we should use WordPress to build the site. However, I don't have any experience with WordPress unlike HTML, CSS, JS, etc. and the amount of time I have is limited. What would you suggest? Do you reckon it's possible to learn and build a well designed with WordPress in a matter of two weeks?
Thanks Mo

Courses Plus Student 13,218 PointsHi, @Mohammed!
For the purpose of your project, I'd say that you should go with what you feel more comfortable and natural. I find myself spending a lot of time figuring out how to customise a WP theme and sometimes it just doesn't go how I had the design in mind, but for basic customization, two weeks is plenty of time. In my personal case, I decided to build my portfolio by coding it, because I'll be the one updating and making changes in the future. However, you should evaluate what seems more convenient for the future of your portfolio (the kind of content you will upload, how often, if you'll be taking information from your visitor through a form, etc) considering your communication needs and goals, the functionality and features you want it to have, and the learning you can have from doing it either way.
Good luck with it!

37,463 PointsThanks for your response, Ana. I really do appreciate it. Honestly, I would've hand coded the site but my main concern is to get a decent grade with the time I have which is why I'm comparing it to WordPress. I still have time to make up my mind anyway. You are right about the updating and maintenance of the site, coding will definitely be a better option for me. I will see how it goes. Thank you :)
