I am getting the error that wordpress cant connect to the database or that my username and password is incorrect. I am pretty sure I followed the instructions exactly. My servers are running in MAMP. I just followed the tutorial setting up the username, password and host. I
m not sure whats wrong. I coppied the automatically generated password. I saved wordpress in my documents in the sites folder I created like the instructions said. I`m stuck at this point.

I think that MAMP comes with phpMyAdmin, which allows you to connect to database. This will ensure you that the connection to database is not the problem.
If you have not create any new posts, pages, menus or similar. You can delete wp-config.php from wordpress root folder, and once you start site again, you will go through setup steps. However, if you have any data, you can always back it up, and once you have deleted wp-config.php and did setup again you can restore it.
