16,333 PointsWidgetized Front Page and SEO?
A number of Themes use Widget Areas to create a Front Page layout, such as the Genesis Themes by StudioPress.
Would this have an impact on SEO?
One of the negatives I have seen is if you are using an SEO Plugin such as Yoast, you don't quite have the same control over the Front Page compared to other Pages and Posts.

2,071 PointsIf a theme uses Your latest posts as the front page, whereby your homepage content can only be controlled through widgets and not a WordPress Page, then the Yoast SEO plugin provides control of a custom title and meta description within the plugin's settings.
From the Dashboard, head to SEO > Titles & Metas, then click on the Homepage tab. There, you'll find the two fields required to customize the SEO metadata on your widget-based homepage.
