12,909 PointsWhy wont my Code work
I did the same thing he did but my code still isn't working. The part I'm having trouble with is the "Do While Loop".
public static void main(String[] args) {
Console console = System.console();
/* Some terms:
noun - Person, place or thing
verb - An action
adjective - A description used to modify or describe a noun
Enter your amazing code here!
*/
//__Name is a __ adjective __ __Noun__. They are always __adverb__ __verb__.
String ageAsString = console.readLine("How old are you? ");
int age = Integer.parseInt(ageAsString);
if (age < 13) {
// Insert exit code
console.printf("Sorry you must be at least 13 to use this program. \n");
System.exit(0);
}
String name = console.readLine("Enter a name: ");
String adjective = console.readLine("Enter an Adjective: ");
String noun;
do {
noun = console.readLine("Enter a noun: ");
if (noun.equalsIgnoreCase("dork") ||
noun.equalsIgnoreCase("jerk")) {
console.printf("That language is not allowed. Try again. \n\n");
}
} while(noun.equalsIgnorCase("dork") || noun.equalsIgnoreCase("jerk"));
String adverb = console.readLine("Enter an adverb: ");
String verb = console.readLine("Enter a verb ending in -ing: ");
console.printf("Your TreeStrory: \n-----\n");
console.printf("%s is a(n) %s %s. ", name, adjective, noun);
console.printf("They always %s %s.\n", adverb, verb);
}

Treehouse TeacherMarc;
Based on the code you posted I see one error in your while
statement. When you are checking for the string "dork" you are attempting to use a nonexistent method equalsIgnorCase
. You are missing the "e" in Ignore
. With that change your code seems to work as expected, but if you are experiencing different results, please post back with further questions.
Happy coding,
Ken
