Why not using Netbeans opensource in code study?

Might get in the way of using workspaces. Everyone using their local machine would mean that a lot of beginners would need to try and install java, netbeans, repl on their local machines (and mess it up badly). A lot of students do use IDEs to follow along, but some of the code may need modification for a non-workspaces environment (eg. issues with console vs system.in). Some of the later courses in java or android favor intelliJ as the IDE of choice.
