Why no SSH client?

First, this is in regards to the video by Nick P in the How to Make a Website series titled Upload the Website.

Two questions.

  1. Why doesn't Nick need an SSH client in this video or the earlier one where the web host was webhostingforstudents? I'm using webhostinghub, cyberduck, and apparently need to download PuTTY SSH client. I'll see soon...

  2. How do I get this question in the same group of questions that are shown under the video? Maybe it doesn't matter, but I figured it might because of the relevancy to the video...

Well, apparently the answer to 2 is magic because it happened without me even trying...

Hey Bruce,

I've never used webhostinghub before, but I would imagine, you could get away without using PuTTy. FTP simply allows you to upload, download, and move files. SSH will actually give you access to the command line on the server. Both are great tools, but if you are running a simple static site, then FTP should be able to serve all your needs.

As for question #2, your question will be automatically related to the video, if you click the get help button under the video.

Hi Bruce, I had this course a loooong while ago, and still haven't signed up for a host yet!

I may be 100% wrong, but I am feeling that since Make a Website is a beginner course, Nick didn't want to bring up any command line information??

I don't recall the suggested host sites being for advanced users. Aren't they all low-cost, shared server companies, and not wanting users to fiddle with the inner workings?

please let me know!

I migrated from webhostingforstudents to Web Hosting Hub. They have really great customer service, and will be configured for Let's Encrypt sometime this fall.
