Why is it taking #gallery li:nth-child(4n) as correct code for every 4th item in gallery list items?

In one of the videos, it is mentioned in notes that the correct way to clear every 4th item in list is:

gallery li:nth-child(3n+1) {

clear: left; }

and not

gallery li:nth-child(4n)

why the challenge takes second code as correct instead of first one???

In the first piece of code, it would affect every 3rd element starting at the first element. So it would affect elements: 1, 4, 7, 10, 13, etc...

In the second piece of code, it would affect every 4th element. So it would affect elements: 4, 8, 12, 16, etc...

Hope this helps!
