538 PointsWhy does this not work? var lastName = document.getElementByTagName("span")[1];
Trying to select select item in array for span element. The first span element contains the first name [0]. The second span element contains the last name. It should be indexed at [1].
Is there something wrong with my syntax?
var fullName = document.getElementById("full_name");
var lastName = document.getElementByTagName("span")[1];
<!DOCTYPE html>

<body>
<h1 id="full_name"><span class="first_name">Andrew</span> <span class="last_name">Chalkley</span></h1>
<script src="app.js"></script>
</body>
</html>

This is because the command is "getElementsByTagName()". You left out an "s" on the "Element" part of the command. :)
var fullName = document.getElementById("full_name");
//Change Element to Elements
var lastName = document.getElementsByTagName("span")[1];
