Why does this code not work?? I can not figure it out it's saying it cannot find addTile but addTile is in the java code what should I do?
public class ScrabblePlayer {
// A String representing all of the tiles that this player has
private String tiles;
public ScrabblePlayer() {
tiles = "";
}
public String getTiles() {
return tiles;
}
public void addTile(char tile) {
// TODO: Add the tile to tiles
addTile += 1;
}
public boolean hasTile(char tile) {
// TODO: Determine if user has the tile passed in
return false;
}
}

1,606 PointsHey Charlie,
This line:
public void addTile(char tile) {
// TODO: Add the tile to tiles
addTile += 1;
}
Needs to be:
public void addTile(char tile) {
// TODO: Add the tile to tiles
tiles += tile;
}
We need to add whatever char(single character) the user passed in (stored in variable tile) and add it onto tiles.
If the user was trying to make the word "Java" it would look something like this:
- User enters in (char) 'J' (it's then stored in variable tile)
- We created the tiles String to store nothing hence tiles = "";
- As soon as the user enters J it's added onto tiles so it will now show tiles = "J" etc etc
Remember += means tiles = tile + tiles
