1,505 PointsWhy does this code not work?
Why does interpolation not work in "description"
struct RGBColor {
let red: Double
let green: Double
let blue: Double
let alpha: Double
init(red: Double, green: Double, blue: Double, alpha: Double)
{
self.red = red
self.green = green
self.blue = blue
self.alpha = alpha
}
var description: String = {
return "red: \(red), green: \(green), blue: \(blue), alpha: \(alpha)"
}
// Add your code below
}

2,684 PointsHi Mark,
You're very close. Still a rookie myself but it looks like the error in your code stems from the description variable. It looks like you are getting a bit confused between declaring a variable and declaring a function / method (I still get confused to).
Instead of trying to return as a function inside the struct, I declared a constant 'description' and wrote the code in the initalizer method. You then call the initialiser method on the instance of the struct. Hope that helps, worked for me
struct RGBColor {
let red: Double
let green: Double
let blue: Double
let alpha: Double
let description: String
init(red: Double, green: Double, blue: Double, alpha: Double) {
self.red = red
self.green = green
self.blue = blue
self.alpha = alpha
self.description = "red: \(red), green: \(green), blue: \(blue), alpha: \(alpha)"
}
}
var r = RGBColor(red: 86.0, green: 191.0, blue: 131.0, alpha: 1.0)
let whatColour = r.description

1,505 PointsThank for reviewing my code Joshua. Yes, I was a bit confused because in my previous code
struct Person { let firstName: String let lastName: String
func fullName()-> String{
var wholeName: String {
return (firstName + " " + lastName)
}
return wholeName
}
}
I was able create a variable inside a function and have it return a string. I thought maybe I could do the same thing.
