Why does the background color set in body, (includes header and nav), not override the bg color set for body element?

the bg color in body is set to white, but we used greens for the nav and header. I was just wondering why the body styling doesn't override the elements within it?

Hi Mike,

The HTML elements work in layers so whatever element is inside another actually shows up on top of the element that it is nested in.

So since the header and nav elements are with in the body tag, the colors for the header and the nav elements show up above the body color of white.

This is by default, you can use css rules like position, and z-index to change the layering of HTML elements
