CSS How to Make a Website Styling Web Pages and Navigation Polish the Navigation and Footer

why did you float the header to the left? And once it was floated. How come we didnt need to use clear?

In How to make a website; The header was floated to the left while designing for the mobile. Wanted to understand the reasoning for this. Also how come we did not have to use the clear property for the objects under the header?

Clears are used to prevent the surrounding content from wrapping around the floated element. Assuming that the header was 100% width, this would mean that the surrounding content would not be able to wrap around it even without clears.
