Why Can't I Open the Image File?

When it comes to using the slice tool for image optimization, at first I was having issues with my sliced images saving only as gifs (the option to make it a jpeg is there, but once I go to save it to the computer, the only file extension available is .gif) and then once the .gif file saved, it wouldn't open from my documents. I realized I had to save each image one at a time to get them to save as jpegs. But, I still can't open the image file. When I click on the file in my documents, a Photos window opens that says, "It looks like the file was moved or renamed." Other than doing one image at a time, I didn't take any extra steps compared to the video. Does anyone know why this could be, or what I might be doing wrong?
