Why are the permalinks to my Wordpress posts not working?

Hi there,

I am trying to build a Wordpress theme in accordance with this tutorial - and I have just completed the 'how to add a Wordpress Blog' section. The problem I have is, when you try to view a full version of the post excerpt, or even just click on 'View Post' once you have finished editing a post from the WP dashboard, I get taken to a broken version of my site's homepage, instead of seeing the full text of the post.

Would anyone pls be able to help?! THe 'the_permalink()' function IS inside the Wordpress loop :)
