question
# EXAMPLE
# random_item("Treehouse")
# The randomly selected number is 4.
# The return value would be "h"
import random
def define(iterable):
return iterable[random.randit(0, len(iterable) - 1)]

47,913 PointsThe fact that you haven't used it is actually the problem here. A NameError
means that something was referenced, but not defined. The Treehouse code challenge is expecting you to name your function random_item
, so it's calling that function from the code you wrote. Instead, you've named the function you wrote define
, so when the code challenge calls random_item
, it doesn't exist, so it produces a NameError
because random_item
isn't defined

. :)
