while loop question please

i don't understand why we need the while loop can somebody explain me please? i just don't get it!

I'm not sure if you're asking since there's a do-while loop. Or if you're just asking why we need it in general.

Comparing it to the do-while loop. The do-while loop will always run the code inside the loop at least once. Until the necessary breakpoints are met. The while loop could potentially never run at all.

The while loop is great for things like video games where you could have a boolean variable named "running" or something similar. And the only time the loop would end is if you set the "running" variable to false or used "break;" or "return;".

public void run() {
  boolean running = true;

  while (running) {
    // code
    if (/* game is finished */) {
      break;
    }

    if (/* game ends somehow */) {
      running = false;
    }

    if (/* some sort of error */) {
      return;
    }
  }
}
