my code doesn't seem to be compiling. I don't know how to declare 'newvalue'
let numbers = [2,8,1,16,4,3,9]
var sum = 0
var counter = 0
// Enter your code below
while counter < numbers.count
{
counter += 1
var newValue = counter + sum
sum = sum + newValue
//print (sum)
}

5,167 PointsI think you need to place counter += 1 as the last statement in your while loop. This will also mean that on the first loop you'll be able to retrieve numbers[0] as the counter will be incremented after you added the first array value to newValue.
while counter < numbers.count
{
var newValue = counter + sum
sum = sum + newValue
counter += 1
}
