I want to ask if anyone has advise. I have a background in Sales and zero experience with on the job exposure to coding. I am learning SQL and soon Python with treeshouse. I find with no experience, most employers won't give you any chance, however everyone has to start somewhere... Is there like a job board for placement that is open to entry level employees. Just wondering if there was a best practice.

Some companies, like MasterCard like to hire people that have no coding experience so they can teach MasterCard's proprietary coding without having to unlearn anything. (This was a few years ago, so it may not still be happening). Otherwise?
- Though not glamorous, internships are always an option. Low or no pay to learn.
- Get on fullstack and github and other sites and help work on projects that are available open source. You can show you contributed to these projects.
- Go through forums, start seeing which questions you can answer. For those you cant, mark them and see what the answer is when it gets posted later so you can learn.
- Sites like Guru.com can help you earn cash by completing real world projects, and connect with people to get experience - though you still need some experience to be able to get jobs. You can add these projects to your portfolio.
The best advice I have for anyone, really, is to play.
- Find an app that you like but doesn't have quite what you are looking for, and ask if they need help. You can say you contributed to a part of it.
- Have an idea for an app or software? build it. Keep it simple at first, but build it. You can add these to your portfolio. Good luck!
