When I try to do this assignment the color text and background color does not show.

Instead when I click to view the web page it reads {color: white; back-ground: orange;} at the botton of the footer

The code should look like the following and be between the style tags on the html page

<style>
footer {
   color: white;
   background-color: orange;
}

</style>

your code isn't quite correct as you have back-ground. Also location of the css is important in this lesson as it is within the <style> tag. As you progress through the lessons, you will start using a separate file but, for now, just make sure of it's location.
