When I double clicked the new symbol in the symbol panel, It does not allow me to Edit the new symbol

I'm using a PC version of Illustrator CS6 64bit, maybe this is because I'm not using a Apple like the teachers

I have the same problem on Windows. After you edited the changes(use type tool if you want to change the text) and then don't forget to click on that little arrow on the top that says "Exit symbol editing mode" Imgur
