One of the questions under Console Foundations asks : "What command will interactively help you create a new user in Ubuntu Linux?"
Why would you use Ubuntu Linux over say the Mac OS when creating a user?
I have noticed some developers using Linux but never understood why they chose that over the Mac OS and other developers prefer Mac OS. Is it just a matter of personal preference or is there some strong use cases for Linux as opposed to Mac OS and vice versa?

5,063 PointsIf you have droplet on server under control ubuntu, you common use terminal for connecting and tune server side. When you connecting from you mac to server with terminal, you need know command for controlling those system. If system not ubuntu, may be that cents or other system, that why you need knowing basic shell command in different linux system.

You probably can use OS X, after all it's UNIX too ; nevertheless, and as Anton said, it can be more comfortable to develop your website (or else) using GNU/Linux as a plethora of servers run it. Using the OS and knowing its terminal/console might be valuable regarding the time spent to perform tests for instance, and insure interoperability.
Not to mention, most Linux users enjoy the way they can customize their environment and the spirit behind it.
