I'm not sure but the first thing I notice is you have two <?php ?> pairs. I would remove the ones inline with echo $my_plugin_profile->{'user'}; and try again.

Thanks Alexander, that led me to the answer. I took out the "pair" and then changed 'user' to 'name'.
