What track is suitable career wise, starting with good front end basics?

I know html, css not perfect, but ok and JavaScript basic and jquery basic. I'm not sure what is mostly valued or necessary for tech firms, so I would like a recommendation for my future study topic to start a career in coding, possibly front end, but I don't have a big overview on what's possible.

I would try Front End Development which focuses of JavaScript (which is good) or you can try the Web Design track which focuses on HTML and CSS and Design.

Pick whichever track that fits you :)

You can also get the list of tracks here.

I know the basics of html and css. Is it safe to say that Web Design is more for beginners? Or is medium to expert also in there?

If it is, I could skip the beginning. Can I skip things?

How deep is the Front End Development? Up to expert?

I would say Front-end is better fit for you since is dives deeper into JavaScript and it doesn't really focus on HTMl and CSS. The web Design track on the other hand barely scratches the surface of JS and dives really deep into HTML, CSS, and designing for the web.

I would say you shouldn't skip any beginner stuff because you could be missing very important beginner skills. When I first came to Treehouse, I had some knowledge of Python. Even in the very first course (Python Basics) I learned a couple very important things thta I now use every day that I never had used before Treehouse.

I would say Front-end ranges from Beginner to halfway from intermediate to advanced. Don't worry; the course is long, so it will teach every single step you need to become a JavaScript pro.

I hope this helps. ~Alex

Also, is Front End considered a plus in the industry and JavaScript etc. is more where the game happens or is a focus on Front End valued by most firms too?

Okay, that was good advice. Thanks.

I'll start with Web Design first, to make sure the fundamentals are set.

I would actually start with Front-end, as I said :)

It also still introduces HTML and CSS, but it doesn't dive too deep.

I was going for Web Design, on the one hand, because it makes sure the colour, layout etc., the design bit of website building is clear and on the other hand, because I know css and html good, but not perfect and I think once I start with JavaScript etc. I would be good not to get hung up on any html knowledge wholes.

Do you think that is a kind of redundant approach?

I think that approach is a good :)
