Sublime Text 2/3 seem to be the most popular choices but I can't tear myself away from Notepad++.
It's really about personal choice and what works for you.

10,181 PointsYou've also got Coda 2.5 and Brackets. If your first starting out it really comes down to personal preference. Brackets works with Adobe Inspect which you can preview on your iPhone or iPad as your working. I also think Coda can to with extension.

6,457 PointsI started with Dreamweaver because it was easier to learn with and had a built in FTP but now there are many that also do the same. I like BBedit, Sublime Text, Coda, and CSSEdit.
