Python Development Techdegree Graduate 13,658 PointsI would recommend front end development. I say this because I believe it is a good foundation and would enable you to easily add on php on top of the learned knowledge. Plus in terms of employment, I would believe that the front end development experience is higher sought after.

Front End Web Development Techdegree Graduate 13,672 PointsI am just under halfway with the front end tech degree, and honestly say that it is a great foundation to start with. Getting into Javascript stuff as we speak, which is opening a whole new side to the web. Having this under your belt, I think will be exponentially better in finding employment. PHP/Laraval will be icing on the cake, especially when you have been through a language already (Javascript).
