In CSS, "inherit" generally means that a property should take the value from its parent element.

Many CSS properties are inherited by default. For example:

<div style="color: blue">
    <span>This text is in a span</span>
</div>

The text inside the span above would be colored blue because the color property is inherited by default.

Inherit in CSS means to receive a property from the element's parent or ancestors.

So a <p> with font-weight:bold inside a <div> with color:red will inherit the red color from its parent (<div>), and be both red and bold.
