Just confused. If 00000011 = 3, then what does one more 1 add?

25,940 PointsEach digit, starting from the right side, represents twice the value of the previous. So the first "slot" represents 1, the second slot represents twice that (2), and the third slot represents twice that (4). If you add up the digits that are represented by ones you'll get the total value. So if you add up the values that each 1 represents you'll get the value 7: 1 + 2 + 4 = 7. Does that make sense?
