1,121 PointsWhat is the correct syntax for comparing to String variables using the "equals" boolean?
I am trying to compare to String variables like so:
if (firstExample equals(secondExample)){ console.printf("the examples are equal"); } Please tell me what I am doing wrong.
// I have imported a java.io.Console for you, it is named console.
String firstExample = "hello";
String secondExample = "hello";
String thirdExample = "HELLO";
if (firstExample equals(secondExample)){
console.printf("first is eqaul to second");
}

5,354 PointsI just think you forgot a '.' in your syntax. so it should be firstExample.equals(secondExample)
// I have imported a java.io.Console for you, it is named console.
String firstExample = "hello";
String secondExample = "hello";
String thirdExample = "HELLO";
if (firstExample.equals(secondExample)){
console.printf("first is equal to second");
}
