What is pros and cons of using Wix?

Hi everyone,

I am considering to use Wix for my next website project. I've been using WordPress and is considering Wix.

Has anyone used Wix and what are the pros and cons? For me, it seemed there is a lot of advantages to using Wix. For example, don't have to deal with updates and easy to set up a layout (mobile/desktop).

Some of the disadvantages I can see is that Wix is not as customizable as WP. My project requirement is simple (a few pages and a blog). Hosting cost might be a bit more pricey than WP.

Hi Cliff,

Just like Wordpress Wix is great for people who know nothing about web development or design. It's cheap, quick and gets the job done. However, when it comes to customization and UI/UX design using Wix you'll soon find yourself hitting walls that cannot be overcome. You want to tweak some code? Too bad, Wix won't allow you. Want to create a unique user experience? That's a shame, Wix won't let you. The list goes on and on.

To sum it up: Wix is great if you want to create websites without using code. You just drag and drop your things and by doing so set up a basic website. However, if you (or your clients) want something more then Wix is the last thing you should be using. Nothing is as frustration to tell a client you can't do something because the development platform you are using cannot handle it even though it might be a very basic request...
