11,626 Pointscurly braces are {} which are used to hold the declaration in the css rule
EX:
h1 {
color: red;
}
but the challenge just says to add the style element above the h1 tag so it should look like this
<style></style>
<h1>Gabriel Arreola</h1>

1,578 PointsCurly braces are used in CSS files. CSS stands for "Cascading Style Sheet". In CSS, we use the curly braces for certain functions.
In HTML, the example you are listing is using CSS commands inside the HTML directly with the style tags, though this method is generally frowned upon as it can get very clustered by mixing CSS declarations with an HTML document.
