what is a console object?

With an example, can you explain what is a console object and how to print it?

IO.java
// I have imported java.io.Console for you. It is a variable called console.
String firstName = console.readLine("What is your name ?  ");
String lastName = console.readLine("Lastname?  ");
System.out.printf("FirstName : %s " , firstName);

The Console class lets you perform input/output operations on a console device such as a terminal session or workspace in Treehouse.

You can print using the following:

console.printf("Lastname: %s", lastName);

Note that if you're using an IDE program like Eclipse, the console object won't be available. In that case, you can use System.out.println().
