What does "1 website" mean?

I am trying to choose the best web hosting service, and they say that for $2.99/month you can get only "1 website", yet for $5.99/month you can get multiple websites. I don't get what the 1 or multiple web-hosting means.

The "website" can probably be related to a URL or domain name

So "www‍.mysite‌.com" would be one, but with multiple hosting you could also have "www‍.myothersite‌.com"" and "www‍.mythirdsite‌.com", etc.

So if I have a link on my main page to another website that will be "multiple sites"?

No, a link isn't hosting, it just points to the other site. Hosting involves storing and serving the content.

But if the link leads to a website that I created, that will be another website. Right?

The link itself just points to the other site. If the site already exists, you must have already obtained hosting for it.

But if you're creating two different sites at the same time, that's multiple sites. It doesn't matter if they have links to each other or not.

Oh I see. Thank you!
