what do you use instead of mamp, if you want it on a remote sever

As i'm sure you already know, MAMP is basically used for a local development environment allowing you to design, build and test locally before pushing your completed site/project to a live (or remote) server for others to see and use.

A remote server is where you'd push your files once you've finished developing locally for which MAMP isn't something that you'd be wanting to use ideally. A common setup for a "remote" server would use something called a LAMP stack, which stands for Linux, Apache, MySQL, and PHP.

If you're looking to read more into the hardware, processes, stacks and software options of running a remote server, there's plenty of resources available but be warned... It's a whole new world of information to take onboard and most just purchase hosting space from a provider and choose their options from pre-existing stacks that match their requirements.
