What are the curly braces for?

Did I miss the use of curly braces within functions? Are they required for something?

The main use of curly braces when a function is being defined is to enclose the code of the function itself. This is known as the "code body". Example:

function sample() {
  // code body goes here
}

If you meant a different usage, please show a code sample.

Oh I knew that...I guess it just confused me because he was using so many functions within functions.
