I'm having a lot of trouble with IllegalArgumentException in java, I have no ideer what I am supose to do.

GoKart.java
class GoKart {
  public static final int MAX_BARS = 8;
  private String color;
  private int barCount;
  private int lapsDriven;

  public GoKart(String color) {
    this.color = color;
  }

  public String getColor() {
    return color;
  }
  public void charge() {
    barCount = MAX_BARS;
  }

  public boolean isBatteryEmpty() {
    return barCount == 0;
  }

  public boolean isFullyCharged() {
    return MAX_BARS == barCount;
  }

  public void drive() {
    drive(1);
  }

  public void drive(int laps) {
    int newCount = barCount - laps;
    if(newCount > 0){
    throw new IllegalArgumentException();
    }
    lapsDriven += laps;
    barCount -= laps;

Hi there! You're doing great, but your logic is a little reversed. Right now, you're throwing an exception when there are energy bars remaining. We want to throw an exception when the number of laps requested would be greater than the energy bars we have. For example, say we have 3 energy bars and we try to tell the GoKart to run 5 laps, that should throw an exception. So if I simply change one character, your code passes:

You wrote:

// if there are bars remaining
if(newCount > 0)

But you meant to write:

// if the amount of laps requested would put us at a negative energy bar count
if(newCount < 0)

Hope this helps! :sparkles:
