11,459 PointsI typed in <!DOCTYPE html> and it went through. Are you copying and pasting or typing it in? If so, try typing it in. Also, make sure there aren't any spaces in front of the doctype and that it's on line 1. Some of the code challenges are a little persnickety.

335 PointsI tried the same thing again but submitting the code through a different platform. It worked fine.
