Website Feedback

I am just about finished with a website for a client right now. I was wondering if anyone could give me any feedback about the site design. I will be changing the color of the buttons to a little lighter shade of blue and I may make a couple of other tweaks. Also I still have to configure the php mailer with the hosting server. I have finished a site for a friend but this is my first paid gig. Thanks for all of your help.

As a side note, I am least happy with the banner. I may go back to a light to dark radial gradient on it. I just got the photo from the client the other day so had to adjust the design around it (To any new designers, when you get a client, before even starting on the design I recommend getting ALL of the content you need before you start. This was a learning experience in that respect) .

The website is lake country plumbing. Thanks guys!

Has the client seen it? That's the most important critique. I personally don't like all the grey everywhere. There's not much to it. SEO is going to be nigh on impossible with that little info and content.

The client actually really likes it. Unfortunately he didn't have much content to give me. It took a while to get what I got from him.

That's the most important thing then. Doesn't matter what anyone else thinks as he's the one paying you whatever it is you're charging. Wrap it up and on to the next one!!!

Well, it's still important to me to give a good product. Any ideas to help spruce it up? I was much more content with the last site I built, but it had a lot more opportunity for color use, since it was a photo portfolio site.

You can use whatever color the client likes. I'm seeing red, white and black as a good color scheme. It's your job as a website builder to advise the client on what the site needs. Sites need content otherwise they're a pretty big waste of money because nobody will ever see or find them.

Simple things like address, map, prices, blog about jobs being done are all very very simple and great ways to get content on there. More images, random library pictures of plumbing shit will do. Make the site more exciting.

This is a site that really does very little but it looks like it does much more: http://charlie.globotek.net

It's not finished but you get the idea.

First thing I did when I started selling sites was strike up a relationship with a designer. It's made the sites I do look top top class even if they're really basic and simple. Well worth the investment.

I would have loved to have more photos and things. Also, the client doesn't want a lot on there, doesn't have a regular office, and doesn't want to have to update it much. I know what you are thinking, SEO nightmare, and what's the point of having the site. He currently focuses on using his business card with the site on it and his referrals from a business association. I could see if he wants prices on there. I think this will be good for him but I will mention getting more photos in the near future (This is what I would have liked to have on the services page instead of having the icons repeated).

Well I guess I will use this as a learning experience in what I need to stress to clients about content in the future. Also, I am not going to design until I have the content because this wasted so much time. Thanks for the feedback!

The site looks a little dull :( probably because of the shades of grey. I am with you on the banner maybe the color red makes it look not so modern.
