I would use "goto" as a mnemonic for the vim gg and G commands. gg would be "goto the top of the file," and G would be "goto the end of the file" - or EOF. I'm trying to remember if the old vi man pages listed all the mnemonics for the various editing commands. I'm pretty certain there was a printed handout for the emacs commands - I'm vaguely remembering a less dense one for vi - vim's precursor.
