But even outdated courses are good, they teach students problem-solving skill, and most of them, aren't really that outdated by the code, apart from the date released.

There was a great valid Andrew course, where he builds a to-do-list, which was 100% valid and not outdated at all, but was removed with the new course - which is fine, but more content would be better, as those were an example.

Moreover, the course gives the student an idea on what he/she should research or in what way to go, instead of googling on what to google next.

Now, it might be confusing for more people, but there could be a note that course is outdated with bugs perhaps. At the end, the concept is always the same.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts--that's helpful for us to hear. Right now we rely on teacher judgement to decide when to refresh or retire old material. Teachers listen to where students get stuck and essentially decide to patch it, fix it fresh, or scrap it. We want the experience to be as seamless as possible for students, so we prioritize refreshing or retiring over constant patching.

That said, it does seem like there may be other ways for us to experiment with keeping content more fresh. There's an update in the works now that will allow us to add better notes and fixes, so hopefully that starts to make it easier to maintain stuff as it ages.

Yep, I totally understand what you're saying. Iv listened to a Treehouse teacher talking about the way they work at Treehouse and how the process looks like.

Perhaps, if that would be financially ( I assume ) possible, how about making an "Archive" page with all the content ever created on Treehouse? Maybe delete content that's 5years old plus, and keep that gap.

I have an open request to add an "Archives" section, but it isn't on the 6 month roadmap for our Engineering team, unfortunately. Hearing you request it is helpful to bump its priority, though!

Just one more thing, you know, when the user learns, what is a better way to improve? Debugging! :D Students can go to the Archive and start making their knowledge solid and debug, which will make them better and have something 'like' real life world experience ish :D
