9,710 PointsVery confused about local hosting
Hoping someone can help with this, as I'm really confused. Here, he talks about setting up FTP access and C panel, and I'm not sure why it's assumed we know this. Also, there's a shorter WordPress track where he had us install Desktop Server for local hosting, and now we're using XAMMP. Can anyone help clarify this? Is there a difference?

Do you have a live site yet?
Have you used C-panel?
Have you used FTP?
If you have a live site you will have a host provider like siteground or bluehost. There you will find the c-pannel
FTP is a program used to transfer files from your computer to your live site. If you haven't used FTP yet, your hosting provider should have a tutorial on how to use it with there hosting.
What he is talking about is transferring from a local site to a live site. So from your computer to the internet.
if you have any questions please feel free to ask.

8,992 PointsWhy is the assumption made that we used FTP and cPanel before? Already there's missing instructions on setup for Windows users. Now this. What, would it take all of 3 minutes to teach someone to download Filezilla and how to use it? From not having a good Java path (starts with a debugging course!), to having an Angular course that is unnecessarily complicated, to missing Windows directions, to not covering simple things needed (like cPanel and FTP)-- I think this is my last month for TeamTreehouse for awhile.
