JavaScript Regular Expressions in JavaScript Validating a Form Form Validation

Using the test() method to find valid Hexs, RegEx Code challenge 2/2

A bit confused, also tried setting a variable to house the test method in but that didn't work either, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! thanks

app.js
// Type inside this function
function isValidHex(text) {
  const hexRegEx = /^#[\da-f]{6}$/i;
  isValidHex.test(text)
  return isValidHex;

}

const hex = document.getElementById("hex");
const body = document.getElementsByTagName("body")[0];

hex.addEventListener("input", e => {
  const text = e.target.value;
  const valid = isValidHex(text);
  if (valid) {
    body.style.backgroundColor = "rgb(176, 208, 168)";
  } else {
    body.style.backgroundColor = "rgb(189, 86, 86)";
  }
});

<link rel="stylesheet" href="style.css" />

<body>
    <div id="content">
        <p>Enter a valid hex value below to make the screen turn green.</p>
        <input type="text" id="hex">
    </div>
    <script src="app.js"></script>

This code has the function name instead of the name of the regex you just created. Also, performing the test on a line by itself doesn't capture the result. The function needs to return the result of the test:

  return hexRegEx.test(text);

oh ok I understand now, thanks a lot for the help!
