Using TextEdit in mac

Hi,

I am using "TextEdit" in editing my HTML files. My problem is: Every time I close the HTML file and try to reopen the file using "open with" option, I choose TextEdit to make changes to the file it opens as an HTML file inside the TextEdit program. I mean I can not see the tags I see their effect only. Any idea why?

There's a chance TextEdit is saving as rich text format/.txt extension.

Try these steps:

  1. Set TextEdit to plain text format (command + shift + t)
  2. Save file with .html extension
  3. Select .html from the pop if there is one

Also consider using a text editor like Atom or Sublime Text. Either one will save you lots of trouble in the future.
