Java

Using @before to set up tests in Java

Below is my solution to this code, it is modeled on the code from the video, but it throws this error:

"Bummer! Please only initialize the Calculator object once in the setUp method that is annotated with @Before"

When I declare the calculator in @Before, then the @Test methods don't recognize the calculator symbol.

package com.example;

import org.junit.Before;
import org.junit.Test;

import static org.junit.Assert.*;

public class CalculatorTest {

  private Calculator calculator;

    @Before
    public void setUp() throws Exception {
      calculator = new Calculator();
    }

    @Test
    public void addingMultipleNumbersProducesResult() throws Exception {
//        Calculator calculator = new Calculator();

        int answer = calculator.addNumbers(1 ,2, 3);

        assertEquals(6, answer);
    }

    @Test
    public void addingSingleNumberTotalsAppropriately() throws Exception {
//        Calculator calculator = new Calculator();

        int answer = calculator.addNumbers(1);

        assertEquals(1, answer);
    }
}

I figured it out. Because the original lines which initialized the calculator were commented out instead of removed, the evaluator was dinging me for not completing the test. I deleted these lines instead of commenting and the solution passed.
