3,194 PointsUploading the website.
I am having trouble with uploading the website. I bought my domain and then went over to the webhostingforstudents.com site and signed up for that and then when they sent the nameservers for DNS for namecheap for my domain name. It won't let me update the DNS with the ones that webhostingforstudents.com sent me. Can I just use the ones showed in the video example or do I have to use the ones that were sent to my email? When I type in my domain the browser returns a not found error.

33,155 PointsIt's not your DNS which needs to flush it's the root DNS's around the world, the sort of "Master DNS" beasties.
You should put in something like this, it's usually between 2 and 3 of them.
ns1.securestudenthosting.com
ns2.securestudenthosting.com
ns3.securestudenthosting.com
if that doesn't work and you're getting the error message again try contacting support, it may be an error on their part if you're sure you've done it right.

33,155 PointsIt might be that the TAG needs to change which is usually something to do with the provider, in caps like this for example INTERNETHOSTS (not a real thing, just an example)
Nameservers look like ns1.domain.com ns2.domain.com etc.
Is it coming up with any messages when you try to enter the nameservers for your hosting into the domain provider's DNS? Sometimes it takes up to 72 hours for the domain to point to the right place, as the DNS cache needs to flush out.
Hope this helps.

3,194 PointsI get this message when I try to specify the custom DNS servers that I got from the web host site. Unable to Update Nameservers "We encountered some issues when setting nameservers. The reported problem is: 3031166 Updating nameservers failed. Please try again. 541<br>" This is the type of nameserver I am using that was sent to me via email from the student web host site: http://ns1.vm2824.sgvps.net/ It doesn't seem like the right one to me but thats the one they gave me and I have no other one to use. Do you think I should just use this one or two of them? ns1.securestudenthosting.com? I figured I would wait a day or two and see but it just doesn't seem like I did it right. Even tried flushing the DNS through the command prompt

33,155 PointsCheck both the host's documentation on DNS and the domain provider, they may have some weird system, or maybe you missed something out. :)
Tyler Snyders
3,194 PointsAlright yeah thats what I figured. Could just take a while for it to flush out. I will give it a day or two and then if it still doesn't want to work I will give the support a try. Thanks for all your help!

33,155 PointsNo worries. If it doesn't work out let me know!

39,199 PointsGo to whatsmydns.net to check global DNS propagation to the "Master DNS" beasties as @Lauren Clark referred to them.
Even easier is use dnspropagationcheck.com and they'll email you when your domain has propagated and then you can cross-check with whatsmydns.net.

3,194 PointsAlright guys, I need your help one more time. I am not sure why this being so complicated. I have done it before but it seems cyberduck isn't letting me copy the downloaded workspace files for the upload. It keeps crashing on me everytime I try to either use the upload option and then when I try to drag and drop the downloaded files it won't let me do that either. I am connecting and everything just fine but when it comes to the part where I put the workspace files in the www folder it will not let me for some reason. Not sure if I am doing something wrong or its on cyberducks end. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated

33,155 PointsFunnily enough I've had trouble with Cyberduck today - if you're using plain FTP and accidentally mashed the don't connect option when you tried to transfer a file it seems to remember that, and freaks out. Whatever the issue is I didn't think much of cyberduck and I just went back to using Filezilla and no problems, it's much lighter too.
Unless anyone knows exactly why cyberduck is doing that and has a fix? If you encounter the same problem with Filezilla you know its to do with your server - if it's working fine we can assume it's cyberduck...
Tyler Snyders
3,194 PointsIt must be the server cause even with filezilla when I try to connect to the server it says the authentication failed, critical error, could not connect to server. Ugh this is aggravating ha. I wonder if my host sent me the wrong information when I signed up or their host web server is not working right?
Lauren Clark
33,155 PointsHas it worked before and you were using it and it's suddenly stopped? Or has it not worked at all?
I've had this before when the domain was pointing to a temporary server of the host. Do they give you the IP of the server? Try connecting with that rather than the domain name, but beware, it might cause issues. This is normally the time where I put in a support ticket, just to confirm what is happening. :)
Tyler Snyders
3,194 PointsIt must be pointing to a temporary server cause when I try to access my domain it sends me to a default landing page at the host site and said please FTP into your account to upload your own files. I just opened a ticket to ask them to resend my login information to make sure it is right. I have opened the connection before on cyberduck and the only part that didn't work was uploading so I guess we will see what they say.

3,194 PointsI finally got it! Thank you for all your help. You Rock!

39,199 PointsWhat did the issue turn out to be?
Tyler Snyders
3,194 PointsIt was the just the web host server. I sent them a support ticket and then they resent my login information and then I went back into cyberduck and connected and then got all my files to upload so that must have just been it cause I was doing everything correctly it just wasn't connecting to the host.
