The question is update TextView to use Spaceship's type property. this question seems vague and am not sure what the teacher requires. am now stuck, wish I could get clarification from the teacher
import android.os.Bundle;
import android.view.View;
import android.widget.Button;
import android.widget.EditText;
public class LandingActivity extends Activity {
public Button mThrustButton;
public TextView mTypeLabel;
public EditText mPassengersField;
public Spaceship mSpaceship;
@Override
public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) {
super.onCreate(savedInstanceState);
setContentView(R.layout.activity_landing);
mSpaceship=new Spaceship("FIREFLY");
mThrustButton = (Button)findViewById(R.id.thrustButton);
mTypeLabel = (TextView)findViewById(R.id.typeTextView);
mPassengersField = (EditText)findViewById(R.id.passengersEditText);
mTypeLabel.setText(mSpaceship);
// Add your code here!
}
}
public class Spaceship {
private String mType;
private int mNumPassengers = 0;
public String getType() {
return mType;
}
public void setType(String type) {
mType = type;
}
public int getNumPassengers() {
return mNumPassengers;
}
public void setNumPassengers(int numPassengers) {
mNumPassengers = numPassengers;
}
public Spaceship() {
mType = "SHUTTLE";
}
public Spaceship(String type) {
mType = type;
}
}

The first task in this challenge is to set the mSpaceship
member variable to contain an instance of Spaceship
set using the constructor that takes the string. The question gives you the string to use.
mSpaceship = new Spaceship("FIREFLY");
Next, you need to amend the TextView
, which is called mTypeLabel
. That label shows the type of Spaceship
. We set that at the outset, using the constructor above. The Spaceship
class has a useful getter method called getType
that returns the string. To use it, your code needs to set the text property of the TextView
:
```java mTypeLabel.setText(mSpaceship.getType());
I hope that helps.
Steve.
