15,362 PointsTwo Different Possible Downloads for Windows: Which One do I choose?
Hi all,
I am on a Windows 7 64-bit Home Edition laptop. When I go to MySQL's website, I see two possible downloads for MySQL. Both say Windows (x86, 32-bit), MSI Installer and both say version 5.7.9 but one takes up 1.6M and the other takes up 370.5 M. Which one should I choose?

"If you have an online connection while running the MySQL Installer, choose the mysql-installer-web-community file. If you do NOT have an online connection while running the MySQL Installer, choose the mysql-installer-community file."
so i guess that the small one is just a "download-manager" :)

15,362 PointsThanks for your reply Matthias. Is it just a download manager that I need or is it optional if I have a constant online connection? Have you been through this installation? I am being overly cautious perhaps but I tried downloading some stuff for other Treehouse courses that ended up messing up some of my other installations (old Rails courses... phew! bad news! bad idea!). I don't want to leave anything to chance after having had to spend quite a bit of time repairing things.

20,355 Pointsif you download the mysql-installer-community file (big file) you dont need the web installer :)
no i never installed mysql alone, i always installed xampp :)
dont be afraid, both do the same :) with the big one you download all of the mysql files over your browser, with the small one you download them over the mysql download-manager.
thats all :)
if you still feel uncomfortable or anything is unclear, feel free to ask :)
