1,870 PointsTweet Challenge
I'm stuck on the Tweet challenge #2. The compiler gives me a message “./Tweet.java:7: error: cannot find symbol return MAX_CHARS - text(); ^ symbol: method text() location: class Tweet ”
public class Tweet {
public static final int MAX_CHARS = 140;
private String text;
public int getRemainingCharacterCount() {
return MAX_CHARS - text();
}
public Tweet(String text) {
this.text = text;
}
public String getText() {
return text;
}
public void setText(String text) {
this.text = text;
}
}

Courses Plus Student 94,610 PointsHi Terence,
text
is a field of the class so you wouldn't be able to put parentheses after it. That would only be for methods.
In your subtraction, you want to subtract from max character the number of characters in the text. You can use the length()
method to get the length of that string.
text.length()

1,870 PointsThanks Jason. I'm still waiting for the light-bulb to go on (the one that's supposed to be over my head).
