Python Python Basics (2015) Logic in Python Try and Except

Try blocks

It is telling me to use the else: for a final return of the floats, and I don't get what that means.

def add(num1, num2):
try:
    return(float(num1) + float(num2))
except ValueError:
    return(None)
else:

During the try block, you should just add them to check if there is an exception. If not, then return them.

Since you have constructed your function to return from within the try block, you don't need the else.

:point_right: You have two issues:

  • You should remove the unneeded else line
  • You have an indentation error, everything under the def should be indented.
